I have visited alot of holy wells in the UK.. its not up there with them. Bizarrely its in a steel cage which the small door opens; there is no water in the well.. Nice bench nearly opposite it and easy to park right up to it

St John's well is named after St. John of beverley, who was born in harpham in the seventh century. The words st johns well rebuilt 1856 is carved into the stone work above the door. The grade ll listed well is very easy to see as it is right next to the road. Unauthorised restoration work was done in 1998, and the well raised on a surrounding plinth by 25 centimetres, making the water level much lower. During the restoration, the well door was turned to face the road (north), ending the local belief that the well benefited from the early morning sun shining into it.
