Sugar Therapy is the brain child of Charlotte Marrifield, and has been 10 years in the making, since opening it’s doors in 2010 it has been described as a must destination by Sophie Denning in the Daily Telegraph and Charlotte has recently been called the ‘Damien Hurst of the Dessert World’ by Food Journalist Ruth Campbell.. The journey to Harrogate and the founding of Sugar Therapy has taken Charlotte through creating exquisite desserts in 5* hotels, Michelin star restaurants & one of London's most famous private members clubs. However it was during her time at Markwicks restaurant in Bristol working with the legendary Stephen Markwick that she developed her style of innovative patisserie for which she has become renowned today In 2004 Charlotte's reputation was such that M&S, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and the premium desserts brand the Serious Food Company were commissioning her to design their high end ‘restaurant quality' desserts. Charlotte's desserts took the market by storm with her originality and creative innovation. This has been recognised nationally winning no less than 8 coveted Great Taste awards: House Beautiful magazine award for Product of the Year and most recently the Sainsbury's Innovation award 2010. many of Charlotte's desserts have appeared on national TV advertising campaigns and she herself has been featured in national press and awarded the VIP (very important producer) treatment from the supermarket Waitrose and the accolades continue to roll in. Charlotte understands the importance for a little daily luxury and has designed her Patisserie to help everyone achieve this; she believes in quality ingredients, freshly prepared with a bit of magic and this philosophy has clearly translated into the Sugar Therapy concept you’ll want you to sit back and relax in the contemporary restaurant area while you watch Charlotte work her magic, as she freshly prepares the desserts right in front of you in the open plan kitchen or as she like’s to call it the performance area. The desserts can be enjoyed with handpicked award winning Teas and coffees or for the ultimate treat a glass of champagne. Charlotte and Sugar Therapy also offer a range of additional bespoke services, you can cook with charlotte in a one on one master class, have your dream wedding or special occasion cake designed, indulge in the new fashion of afternoon tea, which charlotte calls ‘Pret a Patisserie’ which was voted ‘best Modern Afternoon Tea in Uk’. Sugar Therapy is also a venue for hosting parties and corporate events.
