Excellent, don't miss this superb, authentic Punjabi food. Friendly and attentive staff and there was a great atmosphere. Started well with draft Cobra and Peacock cider. I asked if there was a chief's speciality and the friendly and informative owner Jamil directed me to the katwa, made with shin of beef. It was brilliant, with well balanced spices, reasonable heat and the meat was so tender (no gristle or fat). It came in a light and tasty broth and was finished with fresh coriander. I had a plain naan with it and i was stuffed. The dish stayed really hot to the last mouthful. The beef shin Jamil uses is UTM - under twenty months. My wife had lamb patha and so that wasn't too hot Jamil brought some sauce out for her to taste. A nice caring touch and from the way he treats his staff and customers it is clear that food is his passion. This dish too, was awesome. The peshwari naan she had was the best ever, tastefully laced with garlic, almonds and honey - mmmh. Liked the coffee afterwards too, all this for about 53 quid. Would we come here again, you bet we will, what a find.

This restaurant gets very busy, I would advise booking to get in at weekends. The food was good, spicy hot, but possibly missing a bit a depth of flavour. The staff were friendly but as it was very busy it was quite loud in the restaurant.

Sandeep was a brilliant waitress. She looked after us so well. She has a great taste in music and film and culture. The food was exquisite and very flavorful. We are lucky to breathe the same air as her. Lots of love, Harry

From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with such warmth and hospitality that I truly felt like part of the family. The food? Absolutely incredible. I ordered a traditional desi dish, and every bite was bursting with authentic flavour, perfectly spiced and cooked to perfection. The fresh chapatis were soft and warm, the curry was rich and delicious, and the side salad and chutney complemented everything beautifully. You can tell they cook with heart here. But what really sets Salimar apart is the people. The service was not just good – it was genuinely caring. The staff made sure everything was perfect from start to finish, and their kindness and attention to detail made the experience feel more like a family gathering than a typical restaurant visit. Whether you’re local or just visiting Harrogate, this is a must-visit spot. Salimar isn’t just a restaurant – it’s a place where you feel welcomed, valued, and at home. Highly, highly recommended!

Umar and his Team are amazing, friendly, professional, welcoming. Umar recommended a lamb dish I’d never tried before (or heard of). It truly was best dish I’ve ever had. It’s not going too far to say best I’ve ever had. Unique food. Thank you Umar & your Team.
