I’m not actually a patient with this surgery but my Grandma is. I called the other day and spoke to a young girl on the phone trying to book an appointment for my Grandma, she was unwell with a number of things. The young girl I spoke to was very well mannered, kind and understanding. The information was “passed to the duty team” a process I found confusing as I felt she needed to be seen in person. I queried this and the young girl explained they use a ‘triage’ system, so we’d get a text with an appointment and that the reception team no longer book emergency appointments. It makes total sense to do it this way as I’d sooner a doctor decide how quickly my grandmother is to be seen than a receptionist. We got a message, as promised, within 10 minutes inviting us for an appointment within 2 hours. The doctor we saw (I couldn’t catch the name but I think it may have been Dr. Ganeeshi) was brilliant, caring kind and dealt with my frail Grandma very well. We then had to book some bloods and collect some sample pots, so we popped back to reception and spoke to a young man called Ben. It was refreshing to see a young man working reception and he himself dealt with my grandmother with a sense of patience (she often gets confused) and care, his colleague who I believe was called Beth was on the other side of the desk and I think it may have been her I spoke to on the phone earlier in the day. Both receptionists had a great deal of empathy both with my grandmother and each patient (there were many) I saw them deal with. It’s incredibly refreshing to see such lovely receptionists, being able to have both tricky and positive interactions, it’s rare you hear of GP receptionists smiling! But it’s clear they both care a great deal about what they do. Based on all of this, I may become a Spa Surgery patient myself! Thank you all for your care and kindness, even with the NHS the way it is you all continue to be so supportive. My only gripe? Please inform your patients if you change systems. The ‘triage’ system works, but you didn’t tell anyone about the change.
I am in Lindon on a visit and yesterday morning I went to use my inhaler and it had jammed. I called the surgery and explained what had happened and within an hour a prescription was ready for me to collect at a pharmacy which was a five minute walk from my hotel. Thank you to the Receptionist who was very helpful as I was very concerned.
I’ve been a patient here for years and have always received great, prompt care. I was recently impressed with Dr. Zar, who recognized that my condition could be serious and sent me to the hospital, where I received urgent care.
A five star medical practice and team, who have consistently provided me with the most professional and caring support in times of ill health and in times of need. I recently learned that The Spa Surgery also provide a weekly drop in service for those in our society who are homeless, or have no GP. This is a decision their management have made to support the most vulnerable and needy in local society, and in doing so, they go above in their commitment to their profession.
Spoke to a ‘Jackson’ on the receptionist line. I was chasing for an update on a referral that had been made to Leeds Neurology for me by the surgery. If I didn’t have the NHS app I would’ve got no information out of him as he apparently couldn’t see on his system all the recent letters of exchange that had occurred between the two departments, but magically after I told him what I could see on the app, he suddenly had access to them all… I was then given a meaningless ‘it’s been redirected’ response which I was supposed to be content with. After expressing my confusion with what he meant, it was ‘I’ll get it sorted’. I said Ok, so will I get a callback or something? He shrugs ‘Don’t know to be honest with you’. The guy spoke in a total monotone and getting anything out of him was like trying to get blood out of a stone, clearly didn’t want to be working there, not helpful in the slightest.
