The Duchy Hospital

Thank you to everyone at The Duchy From start to finish the process has been very smooth and I felt like I was in safe hands ☺️ It feels more like a hotel! I was Very well looked after! Special thanks to Wendy for caring for me so well during my stay! And I’m so glad you popped back after your late shift to say goodbye. The theatre team who were incredible when I was super nervous and wanted to run out of the door, my consultant Mr Shapey for his expertise and all the staff I had contact with during my stay ☺️ Nothing was too much. The second part of my surgery was again carried out professionally by everyone. I was attended by Rhea who was professional and very thorough. There were plenty on hand in the theatre helping the process. Here’s hoping the outcome is as successful as the first operation I had.

Never would I have thought I would say that having surgery was a fabulous experience. From start to finish the team at The Duchy Hospital were faultless. I unfortunately didn’t catch everyone’s names but the lady on reception was so warm and friendly, the porter in the santas hat was hilarious, Malcolm was very helpful showing me to my room, Abigail was fantastic at looking after me and made my mums day calling us sisters! Martin was brilliant as explaining the process to me and nothing was too much for the lady who took care of my food as she was happy to make sure my fussy eating habits were catered to. It felt as thought every single person I came in contact with went over and above to make me feel at ease. Thank you to Mr Fandon, from my very first appointment I felt as though I was in the best care and yesterday most definitely proved that to be correct. I lastly want to give to a special mention to Liam and Fiona. Liam put so much effort into helping me understand my recovery and he even managed to add some humour and I’ll forever think of Fiona as a mother bear, I genuinely felt like I was with a family whilst I was being put to sleep. I was very nervous and I don’t know what I would have done without her, your husband is very lucky! Thank you and I couldn’t recommend this hospital enough, it’s definitely the people that make it.

From the moment I arrived to the second I left, this experience was nothing short of amazing. I use the word experience as it did not feel as though I was in a hospital or had a serious surgery taking place. Every single person from the reception staff, to the nurses and to the porter who ferried me around, were all absolutely exceptional. Kind, polite , welcoming, charming the list could go on. I want to say a massive thank you to Dr Duffy for his outstanding surgery and also a huge thanks to Wendy, to Claire and to the young girl with ginger’ish hair who’s name I unfortunately can’t remember. You made the process smooth and easy so thank you all. Amazing work.

The staff at the Duchy hospital were exceptional. From the doctors, nurses, caterers and porters. Every person I encountered was absolutely wonderful and nothing was too much to ask. They were so kind and took the time to ask me if there was anything I needed and constantly reassured me I was safe and in good hands. I was very nervous before my surgery and the doctors and nurses were so warm and understanding and put my mind completely at ease. My aftercare was fantastic as I was quite unwell. The care I received was second to none. I am incredibly grateful and am now recovering well at home. The little kindnesses and thoughtful conversations with staff when I was so vulnerable meant the absolute world to me. I am truly grateful.
