This is a wonderful shop, we have been coming here for ages for a wide selection of Eastern European delicacies such as rye kvas, pelmeni, khinkali, sausages, veg, cottage cheese in cream and dried fish. We have also enjoyed the variety of herbal teas and various biscuits, and, most of all, delicious Grape Chicken Salad. Too many things to list! However, mayonnaise-based salads are considered high-risk foods: eggs, mayonnaise, and cooked ingredients promote rapid bacterial growth even under refrigeration. In professional food service practice, such salads are typically dressed immediately before serving and stored for no more than 6–8 hours; claims of a five-day storage period do not align with food safety standards applied in the UK, including Food Standards Agency guidance. Update: The business responded below by attributing specific storage timeframes for mayonnaise-based salads to government guidance. I checked Food Standards Agency and gov.uk materials and could not find this wording or timeframe stated anywhere as official guidance. This is troubling. The FSA treats prepared ready-to-eat salads as high-risk foods, with strict limits unless an extended shelf life is supported by evidence, which was not provided or referenced in the response. I stand by my original concerns. Given how aggressively this issue was handled when it was raised in person, and the poor quality of the response provided, we have decided not to return and have lowered our review from five to two stars. Best of luck in the new year.

First time visiting the store, and we were pleasantly surprised by the wide selection of Lithuanian products, reasonable prices, and very friendly, helpful staff. We came with two newborns, and the team kindly helped us choose the items we needed and even helped to carry our purchases to the car. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend a visit!

I popped into Delikata by chance while visiting my hairdresser on the same street — and I’m so glad I did! It’s run by a lovely Lithuanian couple who make so many of their products themselves, from delicious meats and deli items to the most fabulous authentic cakes. I tried the honey cake and it was honestly the best I’ve had in years — perfectly light and flavourful. You can really tell everything is made with care and passion. Such a great find in Harrogate — I’ll definitely be back!

We have been going to Delikata for over a year now and every time we go the food just gets better and better. All the food is made in house by Natalya and her team and we have eaten lots of Lithuania food that has blown us away. Well done and keep up the good work. Oh and the coffee is brilliant too.

The premises itself is pleasant, and the baked goods are good. However, I was very disappointed with the owner’s customer service. When I went to collect a cake I had ordered, I was told that I should buy something else as well because it is “not just a bakery,” and that this would be the last time. This comment was inappropriate and unprofessional. The owner seemed to forget that I am a paying customer, and that businesses rely on customers to remain open. Such remarks should be kept to herself. If she is unfamiliar with basic customer service principles, I would strongly suggest further training. As a result of this experience, I will not be returning.
