Destination Venus

Always check for comic shops first whenever visiting a new area, so this one was at the top of my to do list here. Not an easy one to find on account of it's unusual location. Literally under the stairs inside a larger building, and with no traditional shop frontage of its own. But please persist as I did if you are seeking this one out. It is an absolute must visit. There is a wide selection of current titles/releases, shelves full of graphic novels, and also a good range of back issues. The back issues will always be my main point of interest. Here not perhaps the largest selection I have come across, but all were very well cared for and meticulously filed by title and in alphabetical order. I know this takes time to achieve and maintain, but it makes searching through them so much easier and as a customer I really appreciate the effort that has gone into this. The owner was genuinely friendly, helpful, and knew his products well. This also gave me a lot more confidence as a customer. A small store that punches well above it's weight, and perhaps shows others how it should be done. Absolutely visit if you can.

Always wanted to visit Destination Venus and accidentally found it on my first trip to Harrogate. Great little shop, good selection going on and knowledgeable staff happening too. Unusual curated selection of comics and always good to see a back issue selection! Worth a trip every time for you comic folks (me included)

Visiting Harrogate for two days and already a charity shop widow abandoned by my wife who is searching for someone who had the same size and outlook on life but is now dead. Popped into destination Venus and had a great chat with the owner and was really pleased to puck up some new comics to read. Highly recommended. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Please visit

I have ordered from this shop more than once, for delivery as I live in London and the shop is based in Harrogate. Every time the service has been excellent; courteous, all questions answered very promptly, and the comics delivered very fast and in excellent condition. I regularly ask for recommendations from the Store Owner and have been overjoyed with every comic received as a result, many of which I am now collecting. I cannot recommend this store highly enough - it doesn't matter where you are in the country, this is the store to use.
