Always fantastic food from spice village. Fantastic brothers always very welcoming and helpful, food quality is fresh and home style. Kitchen is open so can see all the food being made nice and clean. Our go to Indian takeaway in the area. Definitely recommend the lamb biiryani and the chili chicken masala both dishes are amazing. Prices also are very reasonable compared to other places in York and surrounding area.
We ordered about 7:20pm through Uber with an estimated delivery time of 8:10pm to 8:30pm. We didn't receive our food until 21:35PM and after showing as being on the way since about 8:10PM according to the App. Needless to say our food was freezing cold and inedible when it arrived. Called the guy up to come back and as he had just left but said to contact uber eats as it wasn't his problem - even though it was his own delivery driver.
Really disappointing tonight β¦ sauce so watery..chicken tough, very odd sweet tasting balti. Rice and naan bread cold. Most went in the bin. Had some good meals from here in the past hopefully just an off night or bad choices on our part.
Nice meal, but room for improvement. The grilled chicken was underseasoned and overcooked. The side salad was very minimal and could use more variety. It was mostly shredded lettuce with a cucumber slice and one cherry tomato.
I called in ad-hoc because I happened to be in the area and hungry. I chose the Special with mushroom rice and a couple of chapati. The price was very reasonable (bordering on cheap) so I wasn't expecting to be too impressed. I was very wrong. The curry was delicious, perfect heat, just right. The rice was great with plenty of mushroom and the chappatis were perfect, not chewy. The whole meal was flawless and the portion was impressive. Really filled me up. Even though this is a long way from where I live, I will add it to my list of go-to places. Definitely worth the drive.
