What a great hall! Unexpectedly large inside from the expectations outside and not too tricky to find though it does blend in a bit with surrounding houses. There were plenty of tables and chairs available to use and space enough for a disco dance floor and tables for food for 30 children to sit at. The only thing to bear in mind was to not block the emergency exit door with tables. The volunteer who opened it up for us was also a pleasure to talk to. We managed to have a birthday party filled with 5/6 year old children and only triggered the sound limiter 3 times. Once at the beginning, twice at the end and all for cheers. When this happens the power cuts off for a moment then comes straight back on, thereby temporarily turning all music off. For a hall of excited children, 3 times in 2 hours is very good! Positives: Lots of on-street parking outside (though please be wary of neighbours drives) and a choice of 3 inside spaces to use, a meeting room, main hall, and a smaller windowed basement room with its own toilets and exterior access. Thick curtains meant we could darken the room well for disco lights even on the brightest day. Negatives: Only 1 kitchen on site so if there are multiple groups in the building you'd need to share. The sound limiter put in by LCC for the comfort of surrounding residents meant keeping the music quieter, and may be triggered easily by happy screams on a bouncy castle.
This is a nice place for a group party. The hall is quite big and supplied with a lot of furniture. Its location is at the residential. So, a bit limited with timings. Also, loud music can't be played. It has a sound detection system. If sound levels go up to certain levels, there will be a power cut off. People are nice and communicate nicely. Plenty of on road parking. The kitchen could have been slightly larger. But no issues for a small group party.
This is a nice place to arrange a party for a large group of people. It is spacious. They have kept hundreds of chairs to sit on and plenty of tables. This looks like, it is an old style house that is converted to a community centre. Thus, there is no modernisation in it. The window is at the middle of the wall and hence you have to decorate at one corner of the hall. The kitchen could have been a bit large for a big group. Remember, its location is in the residential area. You cannot play loud music. There will be a power cut if noise levels go beyond certain levels. Overall, it's a nice place but there is room for improvement. Yes, I would recommend it.
Rented this place for my sister's engagement party. Was five stars all around until the cleaner arrived prematurely (and loudly), disturbing the event with no consideration of us. We did specifically tell her what time we'd be finished and if she wanted to check, there's a quieter and more respectful way of doing it. Then she was not punctual to retrieve the keys at the end! But the sleeve itself was great and would happily rent it again.
Go every Thursday for Slimming World. The use of the hall is great. However, there are a few cleaning issues, mainly in the kitchen. We always leave it cleaner than we find it
