The Menagerie

They don’t seem to have any concern for dog welfare here and are extremely rude. Me and my dog were walking past the shop outside when they chucked random treats to him without asking, not knowing his recent troubles with pancreatitis which we are managing very strictly to ensure his best health - we give him plenty of low-fat treats to avoid further flare-ups and serious sickness. I calmly explained this to the store owner and continued on our walk, to which he shouted telling me to “cheer up you miserable bastard!” It’s incredibly hurtful to be verbally abused simply for prioritising my dog’s health, which he could have easily asked me about first rather than assuming he can give any random dog (who was outside the store the whole time) any old random food.

Brilliant pet supply shop. Lovely and knowledgeable owners.

We visited this lovely pet shop on Monday to buy some food for all the Ducks and Geece as there were so many of them down on the canal. The shop owner was lovely. The duck food was so cheap, 50p a bag and so I bought 6 bags. Much cheaper than other pet shops. The shop owner asked me if there were a lot of them and I said yes and she made up a big bag of bird/ duck food and said " here thats my contribution" what a really lovely gesture! Absolutely made my day! What a fabulous, caring lady. The Ducks, birds and Geece loved the food. They all wolfed it down. Proper good quality. They could not get enough of it, needless to say I gave them all 6 bags and the large bag donated by the lovely pet shop owner!

I've been shopping here for years. Firstly for two cats and for the last 13 years for my dog Ben. The people who run it are lovely, true locals providing a service for the people who live here. They offer a great selection of of food, treats and accessories. Hebden needs more shops like this. If this shop closes I will be lost.

We visit Menagerie almost every week with our dog Charlie. They are always friendly and have time for a chat. They are careful what they stock and won’t sell you anything that they don’t trust themselves. I highly recommend.
