About Bowie Graffiti
The Bowie Graffiti was a prominent, albeit unofficial, piece of street art once located in Sheffield City Centre on Division Street. It garnered attention as a tribute to the iconic musician David Bowie, becoming a unique focal point for fans and urban art enthusiasts exploring Sheffield's vibrant cultural scene. Its creation sparked local discussion regarding its origins and artistic style, adding to its intrigue as an impromptu landmark.
This particular mural, often characterised by its bold colours and distinctive portrayal of Bowie, reflected the city's dynamic street art landscape and its deep connection to music culture. Over time, the artwork encountered the inevitable challenges of public art, including subsequent defacement and the eventual repainting of the wall it adorned. Consequently, the original Bowie Graffiti is no longer visible at the location. Despite its ephemeral existence, it continues to be a point of discussion for those interested in Sheffield's urban expression and its unofficial homages to cultural icons.
Visiting Information
The site on Division Street where the Bowie Graffiti once stood is publicly accessible at all times, consistent with its nature as outdoor street art. As a former piece of public art, there were no specific accessibility features or payment options required to view the graffiti itself. Visitors curious about Sheffield's history of urban culture and tribute art may still find the location noteworthy.

No longer there - the pub has been repainted
I remember watching Bowie paint this when he was 7 years old. Amazing he had no idea what he was going to look like. Not the best likeness but incredible considering. Born and raised Yorkshire. Big up Bows
How has the algorithm recognised this as a landmark? It looked awful to begin with and its now completly defaced. Do yourself a favour and don't wast your time seeking it out. Its not even by a famous artist, its by a self taught ammature
I believe this portrait was voted worse likeness of David Bowie on a BBC poll. Absolutely cracking piece to see when walking down division street at midnight.
Nice colours - however would have been better if the artist could draw
