Great little bar close to the river Ouse in York. Lovely drinks and food all at reasonable prices. Upstairs available for busy periods. Family run, great service. Sports on the tv. Cosy and friendly.
It was quiet when we were there on a late Tuesday night, but that was perfect. A lovely pub split over two levels. The bar person was helpful and friendly making us feel at home. I had the vegetarian chili, it was good and spicy. The portion was good, a bit big for what I needed but I certainly enjoyed it.

Delicious Steak and Ale Pie, big portions as well. Very kind staff and a cozy place. The only thing I can't really recommend is the mixed pepper + tomato soup (of the day).
Only booked here by chance as another pub wouldn't answer the phone/email to bookings (for over 24 hours...), and we were really tied for time. Honestly it was for the better. The vegan chickpea burger was really good, portion size was fab and sides were nice. Partner said the steak pie was really tasty. We've decided this will become a regular! Have recommended to friends and family. All the staff were nice and friendly and they seem to know about intolerances and allergies
