The waitress was lovely and welcoming. We ordered the beef Sunday dinner and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The beef was tough. The Yorkshire pudding was good. The cauliflower cheese was raw at the stem. The cheese sauce needed more béchamel but the Red Leicester cheese was lovely. The one piece of carrot was nice just not enough. The potatoes were horrible. I know it’s end of season for them but you can get better. The waitress collected our plates and we were honest with our comments when asked. She said she was going for her lunch and we waited around 20 to 25 minutes for our puddings and they just never materialised. So we asked for the bill. No difference in price as it’s a deal for two courses even though we didn’t get the privilege to have them. The owner was ill in bed otherwise we would have asked to speak to him directly. A new business and just such a shame. We were put in snug to eat. Snug!!! It was freezing. Very disappointed.
Was hoping to have a pleasant Sunday dinner with the hubby, and was shocked and appalled by what we saw. Dogs running throughout the dining area slobbering all over the place. One was licking mine and my hubby's shoes, when he asked the manager all he did was shrug us off and walk away. Disgusting. Will not be returning.
We have been to the Heworth Inn a few times for Sunday lunch. Very nice and very friendly staff. Looking forward to going to a mid week themed night the pie Wednesday looks good to me
Wow. Really nice pint of Theakston’s and a great steak dinner in clean, tidy, comfortable surroundings, what more could you ask for. Thanks guys.
