⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We visited Kennedy’s York for a late Sunday afternoon meal – a table of four plus a toddler – and had a fantastic experience. We were seated in a comfortable booth table, which was perfect for our group. All of us chose the beef Sunday roast, and it was absolutely superb – beautifully cooked beef, generous portions, and everything tasted spot on. Easily the best Sunday roast we’ve had in York. After 4pm an acoustic singer started playing, which created a brilliant, relaxed atmosphere and made the meal even more enjoyable. It felt like the perfect way to spend a late Sunday afternoon. Excellent food, great setting, and a lovely atmosphere – highly recommended.
I booked for 13 of us with Karen for an early Christmas lunch. She sent the menus straight through so we could pre-order. The roast dinners were superb. Four couples had the roast trio (pictured) the quality of the meat was superb especially the roast beef. The service and staff were first class and nothing was too much trouble. We were there from 3-9 as they had two separate bands on who were brilliant and everyone was up dancing.. It was the best atmosphere I’ve seen anywhere for a long time. Thank you so much Kennedys for a great day!
A little cautious at first as there weren’t many people in but we were early and it’s Thursday. We were not disappointed. Thursday offer of £40 for a steak dinner and wine for 2 and it was really good. Great cut of steak, cooked perfectly, amazing sauce, chips to die for (crisp doesn’t cover it) and really good wine. Superb music too. If we lived in York we would be here every Thursday. Shannon our server was friendly and welcoming. HIGHLY recommend
I never write reviews, most staff were friendly and thoughtful, my own fish & chips lovely too. However my parters chicken breast was pink, one staff encouraged other staff not to even look into this dish when I politely mentioned this concern. She was whispering behind the bar, pink chicken is not ideal, I’ve worked in many a bar & restaurant, this service/process nearly ruined my partners birthday trip away. Paid full amount to avoid any conflict.
My friends and I were in York and as it was busy most of the pubs were rammed. We stumbled on Kennedys and noticed that it did a Sunday roast. Service was very good from the get go and the lady who looked after us could not have been more patient or helpful. The place itself is a bit dark and not somewhere that looks like it produces good food but we were all pleasantly surprised. We ordered the bangers and mash, mushroom pie, 3 different roasts and chicken. All the food looked good on the plates, the Yorkshire puddings were immense, gravy tasted fantastic and all the food tasted good. My only criticism would be the lamb was rather fatty and the meat very rare and while that was ok for some of my friends other members of the said party would not have been able to eat the meat so red. Having said that it still tasted good. Washed this great food down with a reasonable bottle of Tempranillo. 7 happy people left Kennedy's with full bellies.
