It's that time of the year when we visit York's Christmas Market. So if we want and had a lovely few hours walking around the market. I had this massive craving for a spam fritter. So when I saw Mr Chippy I thought yes. The chip shop its self is a little bland and dare I say it low end looks wise. It was clean, it was very clean and bright. I believe upstairs there is an eat in restaurant but as I was only taking out I never went up there. The staff were really friendly and happy. I always enjoy visiting places more when the staff clearly are happy and it's genuinely real. The food was good the chips were perfectly cooked and the spam fritter was of good quality and cooked well. A little expensive almost £9 for a spam fritter chips and gravy. Think this may have been because it's so close to the Christmas Market. Overall good tho.
This is a fish and chips shop. The fish was tasty and prompt but a bit soggy on the bottom. The chips were brilliant and unsalted for those with sodium issues. Definitely more of a take away based on in shop seating but I didn't check out the upstairs. Solid bit of fish cooked through with amazing chips.
This was an incredible experience for a vegetarian, I’m always on the lookout for a chippy, and when I find one it’s more the times that I get disappointed than surprised, but this one was completely the opposite, incredible vegan fish and chips, if you think that it’s industrial made vegan fish like you find in loads of place it’s definitely not, they’ve battered and fried the banana blossom fresh in front of me, and the flavour was incredible and massive portion as well, every time that I’m back in York I’m going to go there over and over again, amazing.
I ordered two portions of gluten-free haddock and chips via Deliveroo this morning and unfortunately, they were so bad that we had to stop eating them and then throw them away. The WORST meals we have ever eaten! Really not good for my 85-year-old mum who thought she was going to have a treat! The fish was dry, overcooked and tasted like 'old' fish and it seemed that they had been heated up twice! No comparison to our usual fish and chips from Thompsons! When I tried to ring to complain the message box was full too! We feel as if we have been robbed! Have taken photos.
The BEST vegan fish and chips I've ever had. We got the pea protein vegan fish and chips and some pineapple fritters. The portion sizes were great, chips tasted good but the fish was incredible we couldn't believe how realistic it was. First time trying pineapple fritters and they were nice too. Also really friendly nice staff. Can't wait to go again.
