We ordered a cake here for a 30th birthday - raspberry and pistachio. The cake was amazing so moist and the mascarpone raspberry cream was fantastic. We all agreed it was one of the best cakes we had ever eaten. My first time ordering from shutishuti but not the last.
35 years ago, a young German man said to me, I will fight you, but I will lose, but I will fight you. For the first time now, I know exactly how he felt , no words ,no pictures ,no description will do justice to the quality of the food and the coffee this establishment provides and yet an attempt must be made ,even if failure is anticipated. Absolutely phenomenal , bakery with brilliant views over the city walls, hidden away in Bishop Hill ,somewhere that for over 40 years as always amaze me has been a quiet oasis and yet so close to the Madding crowd. Forget Bishop Thorpe Road , this is where true excellence is to be found. Originality, flare and quality abound , and then you’ve got pastry like never tasted before. this was my second visit every day since my last, waiting for Thursday to come around again.
A small, quaint, and charming café tucked away in one of York’s quieter corners. It offered a lovely selection of cakes and pastries, Medivik and the chocolate–blackberry cake was especially delightful — smooth, rich, and full of flavor.
The BEST pastries in York, maybe all of Yorkshire!!! I crave a lot of patisserie and I am often disappointed in most bakeries in York, only selling danishes, bread, brownies etc. There’s nowhere in York that does refined, thoughtful, creative, accessible and perfectly executed patisserie like this. An actual hidden gem, EVERYONE needs to know about this place!! Ingredients are seasonal and often local! They also do coffees and teas and often have a couple of savoury options every week. I go weekly and I look forward to seeing what’s on the menu every week on instagram! Only a few seats inside but great to takeaway or you can take a seat in the wall opposite. Very close to the city walls so a great end to a walk!! I want to give this place all my money and so should you!!!
lovely little spot just inside the city walls - has such a cosy vibe and all the cakes I've had from here have been top class!
