F. R. Fowler and Son - Burnholme Fisheries

If there's one good thing to come out of this lockdown, its finding local business that deliver fantastic service and quality. First time order from these guys, the prices were excellent and the fish fantastic. Had the halibut last night, superb....I'm running out of adjectives for the quality of the product. Delivered free and ordered over the phone with the super friendly Richard, no more supermarket rubbish in sweaty plastic trays for us.

Excellent fresh fish, just bought some smoked haddock. Absolutely gorgeous. They do home deliveries for orders over £25. Check their Facebook page for some really superb fresh fish.

Excellent service and top class fish. These guys work from very early on the morning so it is hardly surprising that they close by lunch time. I am puzzled why anyone should give a low rating to a business for merely closing there doors , I would have thought the rating should reflect the products and customer service rather than something as petty as closing time that didn't suit one person. This is not a high street shop and they always have a telephone should anyone think to use it to make an order or enquire on opening times. Lets give these businesses a bit of encouragement rather than condem them on trivia.

I can confirm this business details are not up to date. Just drove to get here at 6:30 despite their opening hours being 5am only to be told they don’t open until 7. Very disrespectful of customer’s time. I did come to see if I can find halibut or turbot fillets which the guy said they didn’t have them in stock but would have been happy to look for alternatives. But again, the shop was not open. I would call this a warehouse not meant for regular customers would suspect they mainly deal with businesses.

22.06.21 - Poor driving skills from their delivery driver. I was driving toward Strensall, nearly approaching the barracks, that are on the right. On the left there are two roads to Haxby area. Fowler driver was coming from that Haxby road at speed. I genuinely did not think he was going to stop at his junction. He did yet was over his white line. I had to swerve right to avoid hitting his right corner bumper/lights. Fortunately there was no oncoming traffic. This is the second occasion I have had an encounter with this business delivery driver. A couple of years ago I stepped onto a zebra crossing. Rather than stop, this business delivery driver who was approaching from the right failed to stop and continued driving! I did email this business, yet my message bounced back as their inbox was full. Yesterday, I phoned, leaving a message yet no one contacted me.
