AWFUL. UNPROFESSIONAL. DISGUSTING. UNSCRUPULOUS. When we arrived at the apartment for our 3-night stay, I was shocked to find it absolutely filthy. The shower had hair in it. The kitchen counter was dirty. The floor was covered in dirt and hair. The carpet was dirty. The trash can had trash in it. We immediately contacted them and sent pictures, asking them to clean it. Dale messaged saying the “standard was not as good as it should have been,” and that “the surfaces were not wiped down thoroughly and the hoovering was not done to the level we expect.” That said, he still sent NO ONE to clean that night. They said it was too late to clean and they’d send someone over the next day. The next afternoon, we arrived back from visiting the city, expecting the apartment to be clean. I was absolutely shocked to see it was NOT cleaned. Charlie messaged that they could not clean because they could not get in. Admittingly, the place did not meet their standards, yet they made no effort to ensure that their paying guests had a clean apartment. They blamed us, saying we had not left the key, even though we were NEVER told to do so. They apologized and (yet again) promised to come by the following day to clean. The following morning, we were sure to leave the keys for them. Arriving back later that afternoon, we found they STILL had not cleaned! By this point, we were livid. I sent a message saying I wanted compensation for having to stay in a dirty apartment and for all the time I wasted cleaning, calling, and messaging them. They apologized and said their Customer Resolution team would reach out to us in 7-10 business days. That was November 26, 2025. On December 7, 2025, I messaged them because we had not heard back yet. Charlie said he’d look into it. On December 11, 2025, the Customer Resolution team emailed to offer us 20% off a future stay with them. No, thank you. On December 16, I messaged to let them know we still have not heard back regarding a refund or compensation for our stay in York. Charlie responded that he would update us soon. Again, on December 29, 2025, I asked for an update. Ryan said that he would get me an update. On January 2, 2026, I reached out again as I had heard nothing. Honey responded that they’d update me as soon as possible. I realize they are absolutely blowing off this complaint and giving the same generic responses to pacify. They took NO action from our first night at the Feversham House, and they continue to do so. Host & Stay has been deceptive and unethical in their handling of the situation. Additionally, we were given minimal supplies; one roll of toilet paper for a 3-day stay. Also, the shower ran out of hot water. My husband had to take cold showers on those chilly November nights. Despite the good location (and that is the ONLY positive of the Feversham House), this is the WORST experience I have ever had at an Airbnb. The unscrupulous and unprofessional business practices of Host & Stay are shocking. I feel entitled to ask for a partial refund. Our place was dirty at arrival and would have remained so if we had not cleaned it ourselves. Unbelievably, Host & Stay has not even offered to refund the cleaning fee, even though they knew (and admitted) the apartment was dirty! I will avoid Host & Stay properties and feel obliged to share our unfortunate experience with others so they might prevent a similar situation.

Beautiful top floor apartment. Adequate space for a solo traveller or 2 people. The apartment was clean and well equipped. It is also in a great location, with a supermarket/grocery store right behind it, the City Wall visable from any room, and a few steps to everything the city has to offer. We felt right at home.

Avoid no. 12! Horrendous facilities. Not enough hot water to even wash dishes. Heating barely worked so freezing unless you keep the oven on. The kitchen was tiny and scruffy with ancient appliances that hardly work. Cutlery and utensils missing or broken. The bed was the worst I have ever slept on - sinks in the middle so you have to climb out and the bedding is too small for the mattress so continually sliding off. The view was of a sainsburys car park with thin windows so noise all night and thin curtains that don't block out any light. The whole place was dark and dingy but they had put up some cheap fairy lights for a bit of atmosphere. There is also a prominent smell of damp and mildew. Crazy old woman shouted at us on the way out because we left some rubbish in the bin.

Stayed here in an Airbnb, fantastic little one bedroom apartment. Approx 5 minutes walk from The Shambles and main tourist areas.
