The Firs Guesthouse - Bed & Breakfast

My room was tiny and a total dump. Stained carpet, cramped, and the toilet didn’t work. I’m utterly flabbergasted that this place has received the raves it has. The owner needs to dump $200k into fixing it up. There were broken light fixtures on the terrace and the grounds weren’t well maintained. The breakfast was awesome, however, and the owner was a nice, older woman but that doesn’t make up for the place itself. Beware of kindly innkeepers whose property has seen better days and fallen into disrepair. Also, how dare she charge the prices she does. It’s highway robbery!

Stayed here this weekend. Arrived on a motorcycle which they made space for in the garage to be kept locked up safe overnight. We were made to feel very welcome by a lovely lady. We were even treated to two pieces of banana cake in our room. My room was non smoking clean and bright. Tea coffee in the room. Lovely room with double bed and ensuite shower wet room. Shower was hot and towels soft n fluffy. Even had choice of pillows for bed to suit anyone's taste. Quiet and peaceful. Great nights sleep. Breakfast was delicious and lots of choice. Full english cooked fresh upon order as well as toast fruit cereals etc. More than enough to set you up for the days biking even with "bracing" weather. All staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend The Firs. Not too far from the beach and will definitely stay here again. Thank you for my stay.

Stopped off while walking the Cleveland Way. Room was nice and we were made welcome. Unfortunately didn't stop for breakfast as we set off early to avoid the high tide cutting off the beach path.

After Me andmy daughter decided to go fossil hunting We booked one night so we could start early in the morning. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I really Pleasant proprietor Lots of parking after a restful sleep we was treated to what I can only say is the nicest breakfast I’ve had at a guest house homemade jams lovely homemade bread and delicious full breakfast And dog friendly, I will definitely be staying again

We had a great 2 night stay at The Firs while we toured the area on our motorbikes. We had secure storage for the bikes and a really warm welcome as we arrived wet through! Nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed a pint at the Runswick Bay Hotel pub just a few minutes walk away. The breakfast choice was amazing! Really fresh and locally sourced and kept us going all day. Thankyou for a great stay!
