Great location, and as far as I know, this is the only campsite in Runswick Bay, so they offer a service to campers and motorhomers who want to stay here. We were in a motorhome and would recommend it as you can park up and enjoy walking along the Cleveland way from the door. You can get a bus from outside to staithes or whitby, and further afield if you want to. The walk to staithes is lovely and takes about an hour. A few things to note are that they require cash payment, and there's no cash point in Runswick. Also, there's no electricity, and they charge for hot water to wash up. There's also no waste water disposal that you can drop from the vehicle directly. You have to take it by bucket to a waste water point. For us, we felt that the field didn't offer any privacy. We were allocated a pitch in the middle but were overlooked. If you choose a pitch around the outside or in a corner, you might find you can create some privacy or screening.
This is a fantastic campsite with plenty of room, excellent facilities and amazing location. We stayed for 2 nights and loved our trip.
Our first time camping and we have caught the bug, we chose this place due to its location and late check in of 9pm as we were travelling after work. A friendly greeting when we arrived and shown to our pitch. The facilities were perfectly adequate for the few days we were there, appreciated the freezer for ice blocks. The beach is a bit further than we expected and is down a very steep road which wasn’t an issue for us but good to know about. The pub next door had a great menu with so many options and the staff were really friendly. The bus stop is really handy to have so close and the £2 bus fare for whichever destination is a great bonus! Albeit the bus service isn’t too reliable with being on time!
A lovely site in a great location. It's great that it's right next to the coastal path and the bus stop is a short walk from the campsite. Toilets, showers and washing up area were clean and very good (if a little far to walk). Pub is right next door if you fancy it. Staff friendly and helpful.
The lodge was lovely, well looked after and very clean. Bedding all cotton and beds were really comfortable too. Very quiet location, great base for walking with the Cleveland Way path very close by. Only downside was all the patios of the lodges face each other so no privacy when sat out on a nice day. Dog friendly too.
