A most agreeable visit in a comfortable and well-presented setting, with a relaxed atmosphere throughout. Service was polite, efficient, and appropriately unobtrusive. The lamb shank was particularly good — beautifully tender, well balanced in flavour, and thoughtfully prepared. It was clearly cooked with care and stood out as a highlight of the meal. Overall, a well-run establishment offering good food and attentive service. A place I would be happy to return to and recommend

Tucked away in a charming little village just off the main road, The Pickled Pheasant is a quintessentially British eatery that offers not only a warm welcome but also a truly memorable experience. The journey there was half the joy – winding over a scenic hill reminiscent of classic England WRC rally routes, with breathtaking views that set the tone perfectly. Upon arrival, we found a convenient and tidy car park just across the road. The building itself is wonderfully traditional, brimming with character and charm. Inside, the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, with a distinctly English feel that made us feel right at home. Service was absolutely top-notch – friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. Every member of staff was polite and accommodating, making our group of eight feel very well looked after. It’s also worth noting that the venue appeared to be pet-friendly, with several locals enjoying their meals alongside their furry companions. We arrived in time for breakfast, which is served until noon – a lovely touch for those who enjoy a leisurely start to the day. We all opted for the classic Full English breakfast with sunny side up eggs, and it did not disappoint. The food arrived promptly, was piping hot, and every element of the dish was cooked to perfection. From the sausages to the mushrooms, everything was flavourful and satisfying. In short, The Pickled Pheasant is a delightful find – a place that combines traditional British hospitality with quality food and a picturesque setting. Highly recommended, 100%.

Friendly and welcoming staff. Some good sounding menu choices and dog friendly pub. Food was a disappointment. Took nearly an hour for four lunch meals to come whilst the restaurant was not overly busy. The menu stating that the sandwiches come with chips and slaw is a bit misleading. No slaw and only 5 chips per meal (picture for reference)

A fabulous pub in a beautiful location. The hospitality is just wonderful at The pickled pheasant. A warm welcome on arrival from Nicholas and his friendly team. Then when we were checked into our beautiful room The Dove we were blown away by the high standards of the furnishings, cleanliness and the fresh smell n the corridors. Standards exceeded expectations for a pub. This is a five star venue. Looked after with love and care, you can tell by the passion the staff have for this beautiful pub. The food was amazing, gorgeous tempura prawns, homemade steak and ale pie, delicious homemade soup, and meat & cheese platter. We will definitely recommend and return as soon as we can. Thank you 🙏 for your wonderful hospitality 😊

Stayed here on Halloween as we had tickets to see our favourite Blues Rock Band " King King" at the Picturedrome in Holmfirth. Ample car parking..... and from the minute we arrived we were made so welcome. We were a couple of hours early, but, they pulled out all the stops and made our room available whilst we had a lovely lunch. The room (QUAIL) was nothing short of luxurious. Warm, roomy and the bathroom was gorgeous and spotlessly clean. The bed....well we just didn't want to get out of it the next morning. Absolutely lovely full English breakfast ! . We would not hesitate to return or recommend. About a 30 / 40 minute walk into Holmfirth but a great way to get some steps in with a few watering holes to call in on the way. It's not cheap but you definitely get what you pay for !!!
