Visited outside of the Holmfirth arts festival. Only the top floor exhibition space is open, and individual studios were closed but still a lot to see. Not sure why the website asks to pre book tickets, didn't seem needed at all.
Visited a 'proper' makers market at the sculpture lounge yesterday. Housed in an old mill building repurposed to house really talented people who create wonderful items. Ceramics textiles sculpture felting jewellery. Lovely people creating amazing things.
Popped into see the most recent exhibition which was full of fantastic sculptures, artwork and pottery. The building is pretty amazing as well. The aluminium prints by Melody Thornton were particularly striking. Highly recommended.
I had a fantastic time at Sculpture Lounge in Holmbridge! I visited during one of their events, and the space is truly impressive—big and open with so much to see. The exhibition featured a diverse range of artists, from sculptors to photographers and sign makers. Everything was laid out beautifully, making it easy to explore. The open studios event was particularly fascinating; I had the chance to chat with local artists and hear about their work firsthand. I highly recommend visiting when there’s an event or exhibition on, especially with the stunning surrounding area to explore afterward!
