I’m extremely disappointed with the overall approach and attitude of the club towards player development, especially within the performance squads. The sessions feel like they’re run just for the sake of ticking a box—there’s a complete lack of structure, no drills, and coaches rarely, if ever, point out even the most obvious mistakes players are making. It’s hard to see how any meaningful progress can be made under such passive supervision. What’s even more disheartening is the coaches’ behavior at the end of sessions. They’re packed up and ready to leave the moment the clock hits the end time—often before players have even finished cooling down. This clearly signals a lack of genuine interest in the athletes’ growth, even in squads labeled as “performance.” Despite attending multiple squads weekly, we’ve never received a single piece of feedback. There’s no communication with parents, no updates, no insights—nothing. It’s as if the club has no accountability or interest in the players beyond collecting fees. Frankly, the club comes across as entirely money-driven, with no real commitment to nurturing talent. The only reason the squads have any decent players is because of the surrounding area’s talent pool—not because of anything the club is doing to develop them. Branding these squads as “performance venues” is misleading and undeserved. It’s time this was called out. The club continues to trade on its past reputation while making no visible investment in coaching quality or player development. If things don’t change, it’s hard to see how the club can continue to justify its position in the competitive tennis landscape. If you are serious about development, look elsewhere!
Joined in April. Staff are very helpful, friendly. Nice atmosphere. Gym is small, just nice for a decent workout without being too crowded. Plenty of choice for classes too if you are a full member. I have only been to pilates so far, but I'm enjoying that. All represents good value for money. Nice bar/ Cafe area, can't comment on the cake though!!! 😀 That would be counter productive.
Had pie and peas in the cafe with the local cycling club. Although I have lived in Holmfirth for a while I have never visited the tennis club. The cafe was extremely cozy with well priced food that was good. I shall visit the club again even if it's for a coffee.
Fantastic friendly place
Very good facilities and a nice cup of coffee.
