About Hornsea Sailing Club
Description
Hornsea sailing club is situated at Hornsea Mere within the grounds of the historic Wassand Hall on Yorkshire’s largest natural lake. It is a site of special scientific interest and a special protection area. It has over 250 acres of navigable water and has been the home of Hornsea Sailing Club since 1946. With a maximum depth of only 2.5 metres it is an ideal lake for beginner sailors.
The club also provides the perfect base for boat storage, with low fees and access to boat house, changing facilities and an opportunity to get involved with a wide range of activities.
You can sail seven days a week as a social sailor, or take part in a programme of racing that takes place throughout the year on Wednesday nights and Sundays, with opportunities for sailors from a wide range of classes to test themselves against others.
We have recently joined forces with Hornsea Inshore Rescue. This will hopefully lead to more training opportunities for 2017.
We pride ourselves on our friendly members who support new and inexperienced adult sailors. The club offers a variety of membership options to suit different requirements.
Boat owner’s membership from £185.00
Non-boat owner’s membership from £30.00
Day sailing passes are available at £15.00 per day, which is a great way to try before you buy.
New members welcome, come and say “Hi” next time you’re in the area.

Went to walk around the lake, disappointed to find you cant unless you walk along the roads, which isn't much fun 🙃
Excellent location for sailing and a day out.
Nice little cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Lovely strong cup of tea with a nice selection fo cakes on offer. Also available a good size English breakfast and various other hot and cold food. A welcoming place to pop in after a strol around the Mere taking in the wonderful wild life. Staff are very courteous as pleasant.
Wanted a drink and cake but the cafe and rowing boats are shut till 17th September. Edited as someone said the sailing club is open so don't give it grief, but I never mentioned it and am not a member. Hope this explanation is satisfactory for the complainer
