Studied for a PGCE. A group of my fellow students towards the end asked what we would give the course out of 10 and no one gave higher than a 3. Worst course I've ever been on. I honestly dont think this PGCE should be allowed to continue. The lectures were quite vague over aching themes rather than any practical advice about teaching. They were also very hit and miss. In a particularly memorable one the lecturer was speaking about mental health and had no formal training and went on to tell us that depression was just being a bit sad and ADHD was a disorder etc. She then gave the audience a chance to participate and pointed microphone into students faces asking for them to recount their experiences of panic attacks...in a full auditorium. The lectures were mostly useless in terms of learning how to teach. With no practical advice and when we got to the placements, you're basically dropped in and left to your own devices. If you get a good mentor you're in luck, if not we'll good luck... We were supposed to have 2 observed lessons from the university. A bunch of us only got the second...meaning that we hadn't had outside observation until weeks from the end of the course. So if you had anything you needed to work on you basically had a few weeks to sort it out or were taken off the course. Which happened to some of my coursemates. The second assignment, about 70% of the class didn't pass. Now, I don't feel that large ga percentage is on the students.... Emails were sent out containing personal information to the whole class. We were using machines we had no training on, after asking multiple times to get training. After speaking to someone on another course in the same field who had a full-day training, I think this was purely on cost. The training I later found out cost £200 per person. After paying £9000 for the course I think they could have put us through this and not have us in dangerous situation teaching kids things we didn't have any training in ourselves. The lecturers and tutors were nice people. That's the only positive I find really on this course. And they did really try to help. But the course structure was awful and didn't set you up to teach in my opinion. There wee some who had had teaching assistant experience or had family in teaching, kids etc who had some background who got on ok. But if you're going into teaching cold, I would avoid this course like the plague. The only real teaching pointers and experience came from the placements. One was close (the shorter of the two) and one was an hour travel away. The maximum was 90 minutes travel, but I feel these placements could have been reversed so as not to be travelling 2 hours each day. Same happened with quite a few people. We were given our placement details a few days after we were told we would be given them also. My experience with student finance was dire. I had some problems with loan etc and they were pretty terrible. The uni is tiny. And out of town, takes ages to get to Leeds. I wasn't there for the experience of university, but the skills of a PGCE but if you were this wouldn't be the uni I'd choose. I've studied at 2 universities, college, adult night course and they have shown me who absolutely terrible this course is. I would absolutely not reccomend it to anyone and leaving this review in the hope that other people see it and are dettered from this course.

If I could give 0 stars I would!!! I see why they don’t have any international students. They state on their website that ‘Leeds Trinity University is committed to recruiting students with talent and potential and who we feel will benefit greatly from their academic and non-academic experiences here. We treat every application on its own merits; we value highly the experience you illustrate in your personal statement.” That is a bold face lie! I was given a chance to give to give a new personal statement for my courses and before I was able to send it in, I was told I was rejected. They wouldn’t even give me the chance to submit my personal statement. Don’t advertise something on your website if you’re not going to follow through!! I will NOT recommend this to any of my friends who are international applicants.

Loved my time at this university! Great student support and facilities - which by the looks of it have only improved since my time here - it was a pleasure to go back last week for my girlfriend's graduation and see how things have changed. Having the chance to do two work placements as part of my degree, let me try b2b and b2c sectors and was invaluable when it came to finding my first graduate job.
