Called and welcome was underwhelming, no smile and no hello. Perused the beer menu. Around 6 or so beers everyone of them pale. Not a stout, porter in sight. Walked out.

The Hop Shack is filled with lovely beers served by an awesome team! The patrons are lovely. It is my happy place - no place I’d rather have a beer.

Visited to try Verdant Putty. It was sadly sold out but the beer board has lots to offer so that wasn't a problem. Seating is focused around the bar so getting served wasn't that easy. But if I was a local I would happily also get on people's way and chat/drink away the afternoon. I didn't go upstairs but I suspect that would have been a better place for folk to take kids and dogs as it was pretty busy by the time we left around 7pm. I'm all for family friendly beer places we I take kids to many pubs/bars/taprooms. But not sure having them sat at the bar is suitable. Maybe staff should encourage that type of group to use the other spaces. I will no doubt visit again but I think the seating need a bit of a look at.
