Great locals pub, always a friendly atmosphere and a good selection of real ales. Nice seated area at the side of the pub. A little sun trap well worth a visit if you're passing.
With the previous chain of owners this was one of my favourite pubs in the County. I like the redecoration, it gives the place a distinctive style and atmosphere which hasn't yet developed in to character. What most disappoints me is the poor choice of beer on offer, the Tim Taylor's pint was well kept and tasted just fine, and I'm sure the other on offer was the same. But that's just it ... Everything is just "fine." The staff behind the bar were as uninterested in the people as they were in the way the beer was poured, and everything else around was fine, I could have been in any alright place anywhere. You won't be disappointed coming here, but at this point in time don't expect it to be memorable.
Excellent pub with friendly staff and good beers.
The Tavern's fish and chips left me with mixed feelings. While the pub's aesthetic is undoubtedly appealing, the food fell short of expectations. For a pub, I anticipated homemade chips and mushy peas, but unfortunately, these were lacking. Additionally, the batter on the fish was on the thinner side, leaving me craving a heartier crunch. Despite the charming ambiance, there's room for improvement in the culinary department to match the overall appeal of The Tavern.
Cosy dog friendly pub with a good selection of draft beers and a tasty new bar menu. Had the gyros but was tempted by the steak baguette.
