We came a long with a big table last night, safe to say….WOW! Incredible food and brilliant customer service. We left with full tummy’s and smiles on our faces. I can’t wait to come back again. If I could move this restaurant to where I live over in Leeds I would in a heartbeat! Thank you for a fantastic night. Anyone looking for beautiful food and a lovely atmosphere, this is the place to go in Howden.
We happened on this brand new restaurant after an evensong at Howden Minster. It was warm and inviting, the service was flawlessly friendly and obliging, and the food absolutely fresh and tasty. We ordered the salmon filet and cod in tomato capers main courses. Both were perfectly cooked, accompanied by an al dente vegetable medley, and we added a mixed salad. The freshness was so noticeable that I recognize how seldom other restaurants pay attention to it. The greens had not a single wilted edge, the onion was fresh cut and sweet (not oxidized), and sautéed vegetables were similarly freshly cut, tender, flavorful and not overcooked. Mushroom in garlic and paprika was delectable, as was the prawn salad with Marie Rose sauce, but not drowning in it. A lovely surprise. My only suggestions would be that they have one gluten-free pasta option, and carry oat milk for the delicious coffee.
2nd time we have been since they opened . Great service and amazing food Reasonable prices. I asked if they could do a spaghetti Vongole for me for the next time we were in. We came in on Sunday 19 October and the chef had sourced clams at a fishmonger. It was made for me and was just what I had in Sardinia . Amazing . Thank you to all the staff xx
We waited half an hour on a Thursday evening and hadn't even been able to give an order despite asking twice. The couple on the table behind us left before their meals came having waited an hour and a half. One of the ladies on the table next to us sent their chicken back as it was raw inside. We decided not to wait any longer.
Lovely food. Friendly helpful staff. Will definitely return.
