Having recently redecorated our living room and replaced the wood floors, we also wanted to replace the cabinet that housed our audio-visual (AV) equipment with a unit that more suited the new decor. Having looked at many furniture stores and searched online, we were unable to find anything suitable so we decided to look for a bespoke cabinet maker and were very pleased to find Edward Armitage Cabinet Making in Howden. We described to Edward the type of style and colour finish that were we looking for and he kindly produced some detailed designs for us to discuss. After some fine tuning and experimental wood colour staining, Edward set about producing the cabinet and two matching side tables for us. Throughout the whole process we found that Edward was very willing to listen to our suggestions and added useful observations of his own, which help things run very smoothly. When the cabinet and tables arrived, we were very pleased with the results, the craftmanship and finish were immaculate and we can wholeheartedly offer our five star recommendation.

I’m thrilled with the cupboards Edward made for alcoves either side of a fireplace. His work is of an exceptionally high quality, and from the initial quote right through to fitting the service was superb. In an old house, the situation had its challenges, with awkward angles and sloping walls, and period features, all worked around so the cupboards look as if they’ve always been there. The room was left immaculately clean and tidy.

When we moved several years ago, Edward build a set of shelves for my new office (more like library!) - I cannot fault anything, from discussion on deciding shelf depth through to height requirements in terms of leaver arch files to novels, to build quality and style. They are elegant, timeless and so well built that I really expect them to outlive the commercially bought furniture that was bought at around the same time. I have had so many compliments on them too. You don't have to see many examples of his work to see that he is passionate and talented either!

Edward designed and built floor to ceiling wardrobes when we moved into our new house earlier this year. To say he is in a class of his own is to understate his expertise, vision, design ability and superb workmanship. They are a clever mix of varied height hanging spaces and shelving and a stunning design. He followed up the wardrobes by designing and building a shoe cupboard which is actually multi-purpose as at long last I have found a place for all the bits and pieces I have accumulated over time. Because of our current lockdown situation, very few people have actually seen and admired our wonderful wardrobes, but those who have are very impressed. A lovely young man who has a brilliant future ahead of him as a bespoke cabinet maker.
