When we laid my mother to rest in June 2024, I was overjoyed with Rose Hill's lush greenery and quiet reverence. However, on Mother's Day 2025, the gravediggers saw fit to dump excess soil on her grave, covering up the headstone so that my sister couldn't find her. Management were very unapologetic about this distressing situation. Now, a day before my mum's birthday, her grave has been covered again (partially this time). Rose Hill is a glorious resting place but the management of this 'active gravesite' has proven rather careless and unsympathetic. Please be warned.
Laid my mum to rest this year, gravel path was a bit uneven and could do with some attention. Trolley that too her to her plot looked unkempt. Overall a very tranquil site. We had tea at the house which was lovely and serene. Just a little more attention to detail and it would be perfect. Would recommend.
What a beautiful, dignified setting. The manor house is majestic and such a perfect place for a burial. We held the service, burial and reception for our late mother. I cannot thank Rachel and the team enough for the attention to detail. Highly recommended.
Fantastically fantastic peaceful place to be. If its rain or sunshine there it is still a wonderful place. Beautifully maintained, it looks wonderful in the spring when all the daffodils are in full bloom.
When you've trudged round grim, crowded, graffitied council cemeteries at the lowest point in your life, finding a place like this can be a turning point. It was for us. The staff are sensitive and just plain normal! No false, hammy 'mourning', just kind and businesslike. The prices are not over the top, compared to church/council options, if anything it can be better value. There's nothing worse than feeling taken advantage of at such a time. The rules are simple and reasonable, and they reflect the natural option you are taking - no plastic wrappers and 'tat' on the graves, just flowers or planted bulbs. I love the fact you can choose a tree, bird box or other natural memorial. I also love the look of the place, with its plain, smart slate markers. Although there is no escaping the fact that it's a burial ground, and there are obvious new graves, it is a peaceful place to visit. I will happily take my young son to 'visit his uncle' there, we discuss death openly and he can run about in the field. There is no scary, gothic feel to the grounds like with some churches. Once you have used Rose Hill there is no reason on earth to go back to traditional cemeteries. It is not a pagan or hippie feeing choice, or anything odd at all, just burial with a minimum impact on the earth. Some might say it's the way it should be! Our experience here brought a beautiful, natural finality to an awful time in our lives, and we are so grateful to have this place within reach. I hope more such grounds are established in the future, and if you are reading this I wish you well in your search for your own ending. You will not be disappointed with choosing a green burial, or Rose Hill.
