24/05/25: no craft ale on tap. Quite the old boozer, a little run down. More of a sports pub and tradesman place for a lager or Guinness. Although dog friendly which was a bonus, the Guinness wasn't great (served in a dirty glass) but it'll do for a swift half! Outside ash trays hadn't been emptied and it generally really could have done with a spruce up, especially with Summer upon us. Needs a little pride taking into the finer details. Sorry, Old Hatte! The guy grobbing up, while smoking and spitting on the floor in front of us didn't help the cause either.
Called in while waiting for the bus home also been in a few times before to me it’s not a bad pub at all the beer selection was decent plus the pub was clean nice decor . The service was fine but thought the guy serving me was les from Harry Enfield which I found funny has he said that’s £3.20 for your Guinness sir I was like confused has I was on lager but no harm done pub looks mint and in an ideal spot
Nice town centre pub. Very reasonably priced drinks. Pleasant atmosphere and a couple of screens which usually has sport on.
Let's say 4.9 stars, would have been 5 stars but Doom Bar had just run off. Nice recent refurbishment and great outdoor seating area (more than town?) Will definitely add to my list of regular pubs to visit!
Fantastic staff and service great people to speak to and a great pub to drink at with a humble atmospheric vibe and brilliant characters. Karaoke nights always top class and would recommend to anyone searching for a proper pub cause this is a proper pub.
