Primo Italian Restaurant Huddersfield

This was my first visit to Primo Italian, and it was absolutely amazing and it definitely won’t be my last! I’m already looking forward to coming back. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was cosy and welcoming, and the staff were so friendly and made us feel right at home. There was also a brilliant selection of drinks to choose from. For starters, we had the mozzarella sticks, which were perfectly crispy and came with a delicious dip. We also shared the tomato garlic bread the dough was incredibly fresh and full of flavour. As a vegetarian, I was really pleased to see such a great range of options on the menu. I went for the butternut squash pasta for my main, and it was absolutely delicious — something really special and a nice change from my usual choice of pizza. The dessert menu was lovely too. I had the brownie, which was rich and indulgent, and I’m already planning to try the tiramisu next time! Overall, Primo Italian is a fantastic place for authentic food, warm service, and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend!

First visit to our regular haunt, since it's refurb and relaunch. Ben has done wonders with the place turning it into a swanky, welcoming restaurant with great decor, quality glassware and a good feel. The food was even better than before (which had always been very good); the short-rib ragu was excellent and my nduja pizza was spicy and tasty. The prices have increased somewhat, but previously had been ridiculously cheap, so it's now pitched in line with comparable restaurants in the area. A decent wine list included a very enjoyable Primitivo. Wines start at £25, so no budget offering- but I guess that's not the market they're chasing anyway. Staff were attentive and friendly, and there's a 10% service charge automatically added to bills. They still offer an early bird deal which provides excellent value Tues/Thursday. My only slight negatives are that better quality napkins would fit the restaurant better, and it was a little too loud for my preference (though it was packed, so that should be expected). Can't wait to return to sample some more of the new dishes. I wish Ben and his team all the best for a successful venture 👏🍷🍕

Absolutely fantastic experience at the newly refurbished Primo! I visited Primo recently and was so impressed… the new look is stunning: modern, stylish, and full of warmth. The atmosphere is relaxed yet elegant, making it perfect for both a date night or a catch-up with friends. I had the Hot Honey Pizza, which was out of this world….the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and savoury with that irresistible wood-fired crust. For dessert, I went for the Hazelnut and Orange Tart, and it was divine…rich, nutty, and beautifully balanced with a hint of citrus. The service was friendly and attentive, and you can really feel the care and passion that’s gone into every detail, from the menu to the decor. It’s clear the new owners have brought something special to Huddersfield’s dining scene. If you haven’t been yet, I can’t recommend Primo enough… it’s a must-visit!

Definitely would recommend Primo, I love the fact that the menu is simple so it’s easy to choose. The atmosphere is as peaceful even when the tables are close you couldn’t hear others conversations. The service was great no complaints and the lady serving us was lovely and very friendly. Starters were tasty, when for pizza and I was stuffed after 3 slices was gutted that there was no tiramisu left so had the brownie which was out of this world would have liked more cream though but apart from that it was great and I would definitely return

Primo has completely transformed under the new ownership — the recent makeover is stunning and has brought such a fresh, vibrant feel to the place. It’s without a doubt the best Italian restaurant in Huddersfield! The staff are warm and welcoming from the moment you walk in, and the manager is so friendly and genuinely cares that you have a great experience. The food is absolutely delicious — full of authentic flavour and beautifully presented. My dad is half Italian and even he said it’s “out of this world,” which says it all! A huge well done to the new team at Primo — you’ve truly raised the bar. Can’t wait to come back again soon! 🇮🇹🍝🍷
