Cheap and cheerful...? I've always wanted to try Markies when driving past...and now I have. The shop is nicely decorated and looks great from the outside with the building it's in, but feels unwelcoming to sit and eat, it's very basic but does the job if you want to sit inside. Let's get down to the food.. I've ordered the classic star smashed burger meal (£6.50) & value box meal with classic chicken fillet, 2 chicken wings, 2 chicken strips (were missing) southern fried chicken or grilled wings (also missing or have misunderstood the wording) lamg donner and reg fries (£7.70) The good: Fries - were great skinny fries, a nice crunch and good taste. I enjoyed them more than most others. Think mcdonalds fries but better in my opinion! [5/5] Classic star Smashed burger - now this is everything you expect, there was nothing "wrong" with it, nice smashed patties, well put together, but the meat just didn't have anything above normal to it, it wasn't succulent, or flavour some it was just a well made smash burger, without the oomph. For the price, I'm not complaining, it's good quality meal for 6.50 where others just the burger would cost around that. [3.7/5 - some extra flavour on the patties would push it to 4] Lamb donner - was tasteful, no complaints, a very comfortable enjoyable mid range donner [3.7/5] The bad: Missing chicken strips Missing southern fried chicken peice? The chicken wings - the appearance was promising, flakey crust, which was nice and I did eat that separately, there's some sort of flavour to the coating/sings however to me it was a slightly odd flavour/smell/taste, I had a few nibbles on it but didn't want to finish it as wasn't sure if they were "use date" wings or just some funky flavouring. Not to my taste, the flakey crush was good though, not stodgy or oily so otherwise quite well. [2.5/5] The ugly: The chicken burger - dreadful... The chicken paddy was dry, chewy, rubbery? Just overall very bad low quality. I didn't finish it and it a slight shame as the beef patties are jlsuch a higher quality then the standards of the restaurant fall with serving a bad low quality chicken patty. I have even had bad chicken burgers that were better so this may be at the bottom of the list - straight in the bin [1/5] Would I return? Quite possibly, the beef burger, despite being plain in taste, for 6.50 as a quick meal on the way home, without all the extras at other places we go to, a nice cheap and affordable meal. If you want to save money, yes, for the sake of £4 extra a £10.50 deal elsewhere gets you a better burger, and more. Overall I'd say [3.5 3.7 / 5] I can't give it 4 star because overall it's not. The beef burger and chips are the best thing going, but burger needs some nice flavour to give a reason to come back

We bought 3 x 12” pizzas on 02.10.25 to take away and whilst there was plenty of toppings, as you can see in photos the pizzas were overcooked and base was very dry. Possibly needed more sauce also to not taste so dry. Won’t be visiting again considering plenty of other places provide much better pizzas for similar prices.

I've been a regular at this takeaway in Huddersfield, and I have to say, their burgers and pizzas are absolutely delicious! The sauces they use are top-notch, and the flavors are always consistent. It's definitely become one of my favorite spots for a quick and tasty meal. Highly recommend it if you're in the area!

Had a great experience at Markies in Huddersfield! The food here is genuinely excellent especially the burgers. They’re juicy, full of flavour, and always cooked just right. One of my absolute favourite meals from Markies is the Meat Feast Pizza. It’s loaded, satisfying, and easily one of the best in town.
