I myself recently visited (in-fact... re-visited) huddersfield rly station on Friday 21st of November 2025, and I must say it's changed quite a lot since I last visited the station 'in-person' some 15 years ago, especially with the on-going vital yet crucial 'transpennine route upgrade' that's seen the historically immaculate station - reduced from an eight platform junction station... to a three-platform junction station lately, I'm impressed with the on-going work that's so far seen half the station roof restored, with the rest to hopefully be restored at some point in 2026... and still astounding as ever in seeing various modern passenger trains such as the class 150 & 158 sprinter units, along with the class 185 units, and class 802 transpennine azumas roaming the rails of the transpennine route, especially through huddersfield station, It's an absolute privilege to have revisited huddersfield station by train, from morley via batley, dewsbury, ravensthorpe and mirfield along the transpennine route out there... also had the pleasure in checking out one of the station pub/inns of whom the king's head - where my P.A and myself treated our selves to a soft drink and cuppa tea respectively, Not to mention the surprisingly unexpected joyful appearance of a Christmas Tree covered in baubles of whom in the exact colours of transpennine express too. I would really truly look forward to returning to huddersfield station 'in-person' especially by train, let alone check out the further upcoming TRU works that'll see the rest of huddersfield station platforms fully rebuilt (on the inside) with two being curved as part of the upgrade, It's going to be quite a modern site to behold, from when the line through huddersfield is fully electrified.
This was a solid station to both depart and arrive at, with appropriately sized platforms for the trains and staff checking tickets at the broken gates! Various departure boards make it easy to track services and similarly the signs help with navigation, as does the underground tunnel. This has ease of accessibility through both stairs and a lift, leading out to the main stations areas where cleanliness had been maintained!
Huddersfield railway station is a bustling transport hub that serves as a gateway to the town and beyond. I found the station to be well-maintained and conveniently located, with easy access to platforms and amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing assistance whenever needed. The station offers a range of services, including ticketing options, waiting areas, and shops. Overall, I had a pleasant experience using Huddersfield railway station and would recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.
No complaints regarding Huddersfield train station. Trains were on time (on a Saturday full of strike action) and its well served by taxi services, as well as being right in the town so you can literally step out of the building & go shopping. There are a few spots that could do with a lick of paint & a good scrub up with Mr Sheen etc, but otherwise a good station.
Huddersfield is an ancient industrial town with many factors. In these present times it's not much as it was in terms of industries. It's now more of a less dense town with some ancient buildings, a standard university as "University of Huddersfield", a stadium and some nice shopping centers.
