Booked through booking.com and received confirmation from the hotel. When I tried to check in they told me the booking was cancelled and to see Booking.com about a refund. I had to find another hotel. Booking.com confirmed the hotel had cancelled the booking but said I needed to see them about the refund so they are blaming each other. I booked the hotel the day before I was staying. Turns out that in the small print at the bottom of the Booking.com page they say a £200 cash deposit has to be sent via bank transfer 7 days before the booking. Obviously if you book the day before your stay you can't comply with that, but they accepted the booking. I didn't see this requirement and was driving down from Glasgow the next day. I had no missed calls but apparently they had been phoning me to tell me. I did pay in advance so 2 months later I've not managed to get a refund. I emailed them through Booking.com but they did not reply, I emailed them through their website but they did not reply. I phoned the and left a message for them to call me back, they didn't so pretty bad customer service.

Refused deposit, Denied entry, Kept £264 (3 nights) MUST AVOID! (This is not a single case! Repeated problems!) They refused our check-in even after we offered to pay the deposit by cash, card, or instant transfer — then marked us as “No Show” (But we were there! See the photo below!) and kept the full £264. We booked 3 nights, paid in advance, and were told not to come when we called at 4 p.m. The most unreasonable experience we’ve ever had through Booking.com.

You have to give them a £200 deposit which is fine, but it took them 10 days to return it, and they only returned £100 to me. Luckily for me, I took video footage of the room and it was left in perfect condition. Customer service from Holly is awful. She has been very blunt and I know she has gone out of her way to try and give me less money. She pretended that the hairdryer blew up, even though I used it for 5 minutes. The radiators weren't working in my room either and the room was freezing! I did mention this to Holly, but she wasn't bothered. DO NOT STAY HERE if you want to lose money for keeping a room undamaged and clean. I am having to get the police involved and I will not stop until something is done about this.
