The scramble for appointments is a joke. Those who are genuinely sick and hardly call the doctors except for when it’s truly needed are penalised and pushed aside. Why not book me an appointment for the next day? Start issuing fines to people who don’t turn up too! That will stop people wasting GP’s time and free up more space for people who need a doctor!
I’m really unhappy with the service I received here. I called because my daughter had a high temperature — I knew she wasn’t herself and needed to be seen. We managed to get an appointment where she was checked over and then sent home with instructions to provide a urine sample. That sample was handed in at 8 AM. I called later to check on the results and was told it hadn’t been tested yet. I waited a few more hours and still heard nothing. Trusting my instincts, I decided to take my daughter — who is only 6 months old and can’t tell me what’s wrong — to A&E. After waiting there, I was finally told she has a urine infection and was given strong medication. I still haven’t had any phone call with the results from the original sample, despite being promised that someone would call me by 5:30. I’m extremely disappointed that I had to take matters into my own hands to get my baby the care she needed when the doctors should of done their job to help my baby.
We had a very disappointing experience with this GP. Our child developed severely swollen, red eyes and could not tolerate light. Antihistamines did not help, so I tried to book an emergency appointment but was refused. When we finally saw the GP the next day, she was dismissive and unhelpful. She insisted it was “just an allergy” and wanted to send us home without further investigation. I asked about allergy testing, since this was not the first time my child had such a reaction, but the GP said there was no point. She was not interested in seeing photos of how bad my child looked, and I had to insist for a long time before she reluctantly gave a referral — while still saying it probably wouldn’t lead anywhere. In the end, I paid privately for allergy tests, which confirmed that my child is allergic to cat dander and dust mites. It is very disappointing that I had to fight so hard to be taken seriously, and that my concerns as a parent were not respected.
Would not recommend this surgery at all, I recently had bloods done that indicated b12 deficiency and they didn’t bother to ring it took for me to ring them, they also advised me to buy my own treatment from elsewhere rather than prescribing it! They also don’t know how to update contact details!! I’d avoid at all costs
I joined Marfleet Group Practice in February 2019, and at first, my experience with the practice was positive. However, things began to change when I started being seen by Dr. Weir. In my personal experience, I found Dr. Weir to be impatient and lacking in compassion. I repeatedly tried to explain that I was experiencing a number of ongoing, unexplained symptoms and was seeking help and support. Unfortunately, rather than investigating these concerns further, I felt that I was met with hostility and even threatened with removal from the practice. One incident that particularly stood out was when I missed an appointment to bring in a urine sample. This was due to my mother, who has temporal lobe epilepsy, forgetting the appointment. Rather than understanding the context, Dr. Weir raised his voice at me, accused me of being “lazy,” and told me to “stop making excuses.” I found this response extremely distressing and inappropriate. There was also a serious incident where my mother was mistakenly given heart medication meant for an 88-year-old man. Fortunately, she noticed the error and returned the medication to the pharmacy before taking it, but this could have been a dangerous mistake. In March 2020, I was removed from the practice without a clear explanation other than a stated “breakdown in the patient-doctor relationship.” From my perspective, I had always tried to express myself respectfully and was simply seeking help for my health concerns. I did not feel that Dr. Weir made any genuine effort to understand or address my needs as a patient. I left the practice feeling unheard, unsupported, and dismissed, which was a disappointing and disheartening outcome after having initially placed my trust in their care. I hope that by sharing this, it helps others to be aware of the importance of feeling safe and respected in a healthcare setting.
