The Unicorn Hotel

Stayed overnight while down on business. Hotel was great and in a great location right in the town’s Market Square. Very historic feel to it what with it having been a coaching inn. Room was very tidy and well enough equipped. Bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. I do feel however that as it was December the heater in the room should have been on prior to us checking in as the room was freezing. Other than that a very enjoyable stay and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting Ripon

Had a 2 night stay 6-7 December at the Unicorn & it was fabulous our room was lovely looking over the market square at the front but even better from the absolutely massive bathroom window you got a spectacular view of Ripon cathedral ( lit up on a night was beautiful) very comfortable bed & the room was lovely & warm & totally charming.we ate in the pub breakfast & evening meal as the weather was not kind so no hardship eating then going upstairs to our room - great! The staff were lovely - very accommodating & helpful. We will definitely be returning.

Very busy. Clean and tidy and although busy bthe volume level was more manageable than a lot of 'Spoons. Drink choice was ok but fairly limited., with one beer having just gone off, but staff were fine and replaced without hassle. Had a Spice Bag. It was certainly spicy. Tasted ok but could have done with a bit more to fill me.

What a great location to bring in the New Year.: right opposite the main celebrations in Market Square! Typical Wetherspoons food and drink on offer but without any pizzas - the kitchen is too small. Although the room was right opposite the festivities, it was absolutely freezing due to two large single glazed windows and a heater that only works when the room card is in the slot. Decemt sized bathroom that was let down by the complementary toe nail found in the bath.

Typical spoons interesting building with great value and range of real/cask ales. Didn't stay, however the location was spot on for the very nice city and surrounding countryside. Excellent public transport links.
