Sunday 3rd August Good sized car park near the entrance and lots of different paths to choose from. Not the best for signage on the paths, but easy enough to find your way round. Only steep section is the path with steps that leads to the castle, but there is another path leads to it. Worth a visit if you havn't been.

Bit of a hidden gem this. Lovely woodland walk (only open to the public on Wednesday & weekends). The castle ruins are surprisingly large and substantial. Well worth seeing.

We planned the walk to this Castle as part of a circular near to where we were staying on holiday. Visiting is free. The castle and its surroundings seem to be well looked after. It was a joy seeing the wild deer in the distance. We walked from the carpark in Sandsend, access is only permitted over the weekend through the logging site.

Many different trails lead to the castle and a lovely walk through the woods to reach it. The way I chose wasn't signposted, so It can be a bit difficult to find, but once there, the site itself is well attended and bigger than I expected. There are information boards at the site, and the views are worth the trip up there. A castle I'd never visited despite living not too far away, glad I made the trip.

Struggled to find it initially. Ended up walking from the pay car park near the bridge at Sandsend. Pleasant forest walk on good paths. Interesting ruins. Only open weekend and Wednesday.
