I had quite a few visits to this one on my recent trip to Ilkley. I enjoyed a great value for money Freedom breakfast; a shawarma wrap; very good guest ales, and a good red wine, especially for the price. Service was good or very good on each order. Very clean throughout with no excessive noise or drama.
Came here with my friends and after waiting for almost 20-30 minutes half of us got our food. Not only this, my friend's shawarma chicken and chips was small and soggy, my other friend's cheeseburger also had mustard instead of cheese. Tables were uncleared even after a hour. On the other hand, the service from one staff member was quite good and he remade my friend's cheeseburger. At least this place is cheap to say the least.
On Saturday my friends and I popped in for a drink. We decided the menu looked good and very reasonably priced so we’d have a light bite. Mine arrived but it wasn’t what I ordered - it was very quickly replaced with no fuss Halfway through my meal I nipped to the loo. The remains of my meal were cleared away as my friend thought I’d finished. I hadn’t. I asked our waiter if he still had my meal - he didn’t. No problem not staff’s fault. Ten minutes later a whole new replacement arrived in a takeaway box. I hadn’t even asked for it. Jed served us, was charming, efficient and went above and beyond expectations. Thank you Jed so kind!
I was told I wouldn’t be served anymore drinks on Friday night as I was suspected of being under the influence of drugs. I have never experienced this kind of treatment in my life at any public house. I was not under the influence of drugs. The woman who made this decision was very rude & wasn’t able to explain her decision.
Back again after a hike up to the moors as we looking for some place quick and simple. New menu with Korean twist, obviously can't expect authentic Korean food but good enough. At least can finally have a bowl of noodle soup. And unbelievably reasonable prices. Free refills of hot drinks. It's unbelievably affordable and service is lovely. Toilet is clean and many cubicles enough for a party of gals. Women will feel safe here with attentive and caring staff too. Food is hot and miss, basic. It's kind of like a community cafe rather than a typical town wetherspoon pub. Unlimited refill of tea, coffee or hot chocolate too.
