I've been visiting for two years now. Both sitting in the lovely Benched area and the restaurant. The Fish and chips are consistently delicious and generous portions. The restaurant is welcoming and clean. The staff in the kiosk are warm, friendly and happy to assist wherever they can. I highly recommend. In addition the location is fabulous. Right by the river with a well equipped children's area. Whether you're walking the dog or have children to entertain, enjoy the kiosk for food. Coffee or ice cream and the restaurant for a warm relaxed atmosphere.
Me and my family have been coming here for a number of years. We love going for a wander around Ilkley then stopping off at the cabin for Fish and Chips. During the summer time we were given a buzzer so we didn’t have to wait around by the order point, we could go sit down. Our most recent trip was just after Christmas where the man behind the counter made our food to order. It was piping hot and really lovely, which is just what we needed on such a chilly day.
A lot of low reviews here which I can understand as during the summer, wait times are a bit silly. Don't cook to order, cook for demand, have food ready to go during busy times, anyway I am going back to last summer so maybe its changed since. So we visited 9/4/25 around 15:30, not busy at all, ordered x2 kids fish and chips, x2 jumbo sausages and a chip butty, all came in good time and the gent serving was very polite all the way through, he even popped by to ask how our food was. A few minutes later a staff member from the Riverside Hotel came out to collect glasses and chatted friendly in passing. Really was a great afternoon tea.
I didn't end up eating here, wait time 25 minutes, women cooking was scratching down her pants, didn't acknowledge that I was waiting to be served (after standing there for over 5 mins), saw them chuck an incorrect order back into the serving area with their hands, food looked very greasy, so went elsewhere. Lucky I did as when I was leaving, I noticed they cook in beef fat as well - which isn't to my taste.
Nice little chippy near the park, great for a day out with the children and a little bite to eat after playing on the park. Nicely priced and very old schooled curry sauce which we enjoyed. They also served other things at the chippy such as ice cream. We got a small child’s ice cream and it was huge. Also a number of picnic benches outside to sit on with your family.
