A very good PubCo pub. Food was of excellent quality for what it was, the waitresses who served us were both friendly and chatty, and the views from the front beer garden are quite something! Definitely worth a visit when you're out and about on Ilkley Moor, and Dog friendly too which is a big plus
We recently stayed at this hotel and while there are some nice aspects, overall it’s not the best choice for families with small children. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which is definitely a plus. However, during our stay we noticed some things that really need attention. For example, a broken glass on one of the outdoor garden tables was left there for two days this is dangerous, especially since we were there with our two young kids (aged 2 and 3). The garden itself is pretty, with a lake, but it isn’t very safe for children as they can easily access the water. Another issue was the washing machine, which for some reason was located directly above our room. It was extremely loud, shaking the lights and even causing some damage, definitely not what you’d expect on a relaxing holiday. Entertainment and comfort could also be improved. The TVs don’t have Netflix or any childrens channels, and the so-called “free Wi-Fi” is so slow that it’s basically unusable. Food-wise, breakfast was very good and filling, but the other meals were overpriced with small portions, which was disappointing. On the positive side, I really liked the idea of having books available in the restaurant , a nice touch that helps guests pass the time. Overall, this hotel feels much more suited to couples without kids. It’s a lovely place in some ways, but I wouldn’t recommend it for families.
I went and they still had the festive menu, it was nice to have venison pie. Plenty of character, well known by hikers.
Food was lovely, portions were large and it was a great post-(icy)hike reward.
Delicious food and brilliant service. Staff were friendly and the view outside was amazing to look at. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone around the area and will hopefully visit again in the future when I come back to Ilkley.
