Wheatley Arms, Ilkley

The property is nicely decorated and staff were responsive and friendly. We stayed in Room 5 and whilst it’s quite small it was nicely decorated, clean and nice to have a bath plus shower (shower very good). Bathrobes and slippers were not expected for the price paid but appreciated. We also attended a birthday lunch in the private back dining room area which was well catered for. Plenty of free parking. Excellent base for touring the beautiful area.

Phoned Sunday morning and managed to book a table for lunchtime that day. Good sized car park to the rear, disabled access on opposite side of the building with drop-off roadside entrance. Interior and exterior done to a very good standard. Sunday roast beef dinner was very good, you can order the beef pink and it was full of flavour, decent gravy. Roast potatoes were ok, cabbage needed seasoning, parsnips and carrots good & served 'long'. Cauliflower cheese was an extra & was good. Lamb shank was decent but could have been served warmer, came with an excellent Yorkshire pudding plus I ordered an extra one. The gravy had too much mint in it for me and slightly overpowered the whole dish, but others no doubt will prefer it this way, just personal preference, it didn't ruin the meal. The staff were very organised, friendly and efficient.

Great place, close to Ilkley & peaceful. It’s used regularly during the day by a wide range of people; working, coffee meet ups, lunch time crowd & after work spot. Will definitely consider staying here before flying out from Leeds/Bradford airport rather than an anonymous character devoid chain hotel. Staff very friendly & whole place is well appointed and spotlessly clean.

We stayed the 6th December, we booked a couple of rooms for more family. It’s absolutely spotless, the whole experience from outside, walking in, the rooms, the staff, the service and the food, spot on. The pillows are the best we have ever slept on, I ordered. Nothing was too much trouble. We’ve booked again to stay next December, but bringing more family it was that nice. Highly recommend the place.

Stayed here for a night in January and couldn't fault it. Really cosy room - recently renovated by the looks of things and done to a high standard. Great breakfast in the morning and really friendly staff. Highly recommended.
