Really well located scout campsite in Ilkley - 10 minutes walk from the town center and only 40 minutes or so from the Cow & Calf rocks. Well equipped dormitory block with brilliant cooking facilities, well cared for bathrooms and cozy sleeping accommodation. Our group felt very well looked after and would definitely return in future.
Fantastic indoor facilities for groups of up to about 30. Kitchen is well kitted out, plenty of bunk rooms, wet boot area. Outside camping in beautiful surroundings with plenty of cooking areas and good drainage. Handy for Ilkley town centre and train station if you don't mind the steep climb.
This used to be a really good site and one that wharfedale district could be, and was, rightly proud of. Sadly, there has recently been a policy of tree planting and access restriction to large and valuable areas of the site. The tree planting is being very poorly managed with in some places 5 or 6 saplings planted within a square metre and the access restriction resulting in groups no longer being able to retrieve dead fall firewood from the campsite's rough ground. The site does provide a wood pile for this however it is almost entirely green wood and not much use for the task. A great pity for troops who still practice traditional camping methods and cook on open fires.
Lovely place, my son does like it a lot!
Lovely camp site you would think it was there
