•The HACS Harrogate Music Festival is gearing up for a spectacular celebration as it marks its 60th anniversary this year. Running from 6 June to 5 July 2026, the festival promises a rich tapestry of classical music featuring both renowned artists and emerging talents. This year's line-up is truly impressive, showcasing a blend of established names and exciting newcomers, making it a must-visit event for music lovers in Yorkshire and beyond.
Celebrating 60 Years of Music
Harrogate International Festivals has a long-standing reputation for excellence in the classical music scene, having hosted some of the greatest names in music history over the past six decades. The festival has transformed Harrogate into a vibrant hub for classical performances, drawing in audiences from across the region and even further afield. Legendary figures such as Jacqueline du Pré, Dame Janet Baker, and Sir Simon Rattle have graced its stages, contributing to its legacy.




Star-Studded Line-Up
This year’s festival is set to feature a stellar line-up that includes:
Abel Selaocoe - The genre-defying cellist will kick off the festival with a captivating performance on 6 June at Ashville College.
Davóne Tines - The celebrated Grammy-nominated singer will perform on 12 June at the Wesley Centre, marking his only performance in the North this season.
Julian Lloyd Webber - The iconic cellist returns on 16 June for an evening that includes a discussion about his new autobiography, Bows and Arrows, and a live performance with his wife, Jiaxin.
Aurora Orchestra - Renowned for their innovative, memorised performances, they will take the stage on 24 June, performing pieces including Mozart's works without sheet music.
BBC Philharmonic - This beloved orchestra will close the festival on 5 July at the Royal Hall, featuring violinist Hana Chang and conductor Ben Glassberg.
Younger Talents Shine
In addition to the big names, the festival is committed to supporting young musicians. This year, it is partnering with the Royal College of Music to showcase some of the UK's most gifted emerging artists. Performances in the Young Musicians Series include:
Emily Crook (clarinet) and Mariamna Sherling (piano) on 26 June, performing works by Bach and Beethoven.
Lumas Winds on 23 June, who are known for their contributions to wind chamber music.
Mariatu Kanneh-Mason on 3 July, who will bring her unique style to the Wesley Centre, combining folk and romantic music.
Nikki Martin on 4 July, showcasing her operatic talent alongside pianist Esther Ersfeld.
Alexandra Dariescu on 20 June, the first female Romanian pianist to perform at the Royal Albert Hall, will present an eclectic piano programme.
