Ted Hughes walk and Mytholmroyd

Welcome to Yorkshire

Childhood home of iconic poet Ted Hughes

Childhood home of the late Ted Hughes, famous 20th-century British poet and previous English poet laureate, Mytholmroyd is often overshadowed by its bigger and more famous neighbour, Hebden Bridge.

It is, however, well worth a visit because of the lovely cafes and pubs and this great walk which offers lovely woodland trails, canal side paths and plenty to see and is easily done with a pram or little ones.

The best family-friendly trail is a 2.5-mile circular that starts from Ted Hughes' house and goes through the pretty hamlet of Brearley and along the Rochdale Canal.
