Lord Scrope’s Living History Weekend – Saturday 13 May & Sunday 14 May
Discover Tudor life at Bolton Castle as historians recreate the world of the Border Reivers, with action, demonstrations and stories from the turbulent Anglo-Scottish border conflicts of 1596.Living History Weekend – Saturday 23 May, Sunday 24 May & Monday 25 May
Step into Tudor England during the Bank Holiday weekend with costumed re-enactors bringing castle life to life through food, daily routines and wartime preparations.Lord Scrope’s Living History Weekend – Saturday 30 May & Sunday 31 May
Explore Lord Scrope’s Tudor household, from kitchens and gardens to armour preparation and aristocratic pastimes, discovering how castle life functioned in peace and war.Living History Weekend – Saturday 13 June & Sunday 14 June
Learn about the English Civil Wars through immersive re-enactments showing how Bolton Castle supported King Charles during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms.Captain Savile’s 15th Century Weekend – Saturday 20 June & Sunday 21 June
Experience a fully equipped medieval encampment with archery, combat displays, drills and demonstrations from Sir John Savile’s household.Traditional Skills Presentation – Wednesday 1 July, 10am to 3pm
Enjoy hands-on demonstrations of traditional wool spinning and medieval textile skills, with visitors invited to try the crafts themselves.Lord Scrope’s Tudor Weekend – Saturday 11 July & Sunday 12 July
Travel back to 1596 as Lord Scrope’s household prepares for conflict following Kinmont Willie’s dramatic escape, with Tudor kitchens, trades and military preparations on display.Knights School – Wednesday 22 July & Thursday 30 July; Thursday 13 August, Wednesday 19 August & Wednesday 26 August
Children aged 7–13 can take part in immersive medieval training sessions, learning sword skills, archery, armour handling, jousting, dancing and etiquette. Pre-booking required.Mary Queen of Scots Family Event – Tuesday 4 August, Wednesday 5 August & Thursday 6 August
Interactive family performances bring the story of Mary Queen of Scots’ imprisonment at Bolton Castle to life with humour and audience participation.Living History Weekend – Saturday 8 August & Sunday 9 August

Set during the threat of the Spanish Armada in 1588, this living history weekend follows Lord Scrope and his garrison as they prepare to defend England from invasion.Handlebards at Bolton Castle – Thursday 20 August from 6.30pm
Outdoor theatre troupe The HandleBards bring a lively open-air performance of Shakespeare’s Macbeth to the castle grounds.
