•Excitement is building in the village of Londesborough as preparations are well underway for the 79th Annual Produce Show. This cherished event, set to take place on Saturday, 11th July, will be held in the village's Concert Hall, welcoming local residents and visitors alike to celebrate the best of homegrown produce and creativity.
Event Details
The Londesborough Annual Produce Show is known for its variety and inclusivity, featuring a whopping 99 classes that participants can enter. Organised by a dedicated committee, the show is chaired by local farmer Graeme Stephenson, who emphasised the event's significance in the village calendar:
“It’s a popular show and is an important event in the village calendar. We have classes for everything from fruit and veg through flowers, cookery and preserves to handicrafts and children’s classes. We’re looking forward to receiving lots of entries.”
For those interested in entering, the fees are quite reasonable: adults can enter classes for just 50p each, while children's classes cost only 10p. Entries must be submitted at the Concert Hall between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the day of the show. Once the entries are in, the public is invited to view the exhibits starting at 2 p.m. Admission for adults is £1.50, and children can enter for free, making it an affordable day out for families.
What to Expect
The show promises to be an exciting day filled with not just displays of homegrown fruits, vegetables, and flowers, but also a range of culinary delights and handcrafted items. There will be a bring-and-buy stall, which is a great opportunity for visitors to snag homemade goodies or unique crafts. Additionally, a raffle will take place, with various prizes up for grabs.
To keep everyone refreshed and energised, Rustik Lounge from Market Weighton will be on hand to serve delicious refreshments throughout the event. This is a perfect chance to enjoy some local food while supporting the community.
