Surely one of the finest campsites in the Dales. Wonderfully old fashioned and welcoming check in process in the farmhouse cafe/shop, plenty of pitches and a superb location next to Catrake Force. Indoor wash up room was a life saver when it came to midges (beware!) Showers also very spacious. Couldn't recommend more highly.

Lovely campsite. Fire pits already on your pitch so no need to take one. Theres a little shop you can get your logs from. They also sell fresh cakes and other essentials. You Can camp by the river or up on the fields. The choice is yours. Will definitely be going back.

Easily one of the best campsites along the Coast to Coast! Great location alongside a stream, with plenty of space to choose from across several fields. The outside toilet and shower block appears basic, but the showers are hot, powerful and adjustable (and free!) and the toilets were clean and not full of bugs. There's little to no phone reception, but there's an open WiFi network which you can connect to from the seating area or outside the shower block. The owners were friendly when we arrived, brought my wallet to me when I stupidly left it in the toilet cubicle, and made me a herbal tea when I was unwell on the morning of our departure - I imagine most visitors aren't as demanding as I ended up being, but they were incredibly kind. The tuckshop/cafe is well stocked with a variety of snacks and drinks, along with freshly made bacon butties, hot drinks and bowls of cereal. Absolutely worth planning your C2C around a night here :)

A popular but off the beaten path site. my young family are still fairly new to camping so have been trying a few different places. Rutkins is very picturesque a pretty busy. The facilities are ok. There’s toilets and showers and a small store for the bits you may have forgotten (its not big by any stretch) be warned, it’s a steep up hill walk from the riverside when you need the loo. But if you’re looking for an out of the way site, then this is for you. Being on the river, there’s plenty of swimming pools and beautiful waterfalls etc. By far the biggest downside and it’s nothing the owners can change. The midge’s OMG the flies They’re tiny, about the size of a flea but there’s trillions of them. They do bite and as soon as you get warm, the itching starts. Whilst cooking it felt like my face was literally moving. I had citronella candles, a smoking fire and jungle formula and I still got eaten alive. Would I visit again..yes. Would I be wearing trousers and a long sleeved shirt, absolutely

Such a lovely campsite in a gorgeous part of the Dales. There's a huge amount of space for pitching so you should get somewhere flat, and the views to the Swale are stunning. The tearoom is also fantastic- staff are really friendly, the coffee is good, and the bacon sandwiches even better. Everything you'd need whether stopping on the C2C, Pennine Way, or just for a visit! (Edit to add because its worth mentioning, the toilets are really clean and the site has a feeling of being very well looked after)
