Phenomenal day out for all the family, plenty of fun, pick up a guide from the pop up stall about all the Scarecrows in the village, and if you mark all of them a free small prize for the kids. Have your camera or phone with you is a must, as they are outstanding and worth seeing. Fantastic village hall offering great tea coffee, home made cakes, snacks, sandwiches ice creams and soft drinks all very reasonable cost. 2 great pubs, serving phenomenal gorgeous food and Camra fantastic delicious beer. Phenomenal and great price parking for your car, campervan and coaches. Phenomenal day out and well worth a very interesting and extremely pleasant visit especially when the Scarecrows festival is on. Also getting plenty of fresh air and exercise as you are walking around the village, especially for the kids, instead of on their game consoles, phones, tablets, PC s etc, and keeping them happy and inexpensive during the holidays is a must. Overall I will be back year after year
This village is just stunning. I came here for a work event and the whole walk was beautiful. We will definitely come back in the future. There's a cute little pub that's animal friendly half way through the river walk.
Visited here previously for a scarecrow festival and was here again for this year's festival. Large bustling hall with efficient and well run service by a team of friendly ladies. Lovely baking, the cakes are recommended. The mushroom and roast garlic soup was tasty, if slightly over salted for my taste, but it was not a very generous portion, being one ladleful providing about a third of a bowl. But there's plenty of seating, inside and out. Friendly team and great cakes. A lively hubbub in this lovely village, where Calendar Girls was filmed. Oh, and there's a lovely framed mosaic on the wall called the Dales Seasons. On the opposite wall is an amazing textile banner, so many hours work!
Probably the best place to go for refreshments during the Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival, loads of room, scrummy home made cakes, soup, tea & filter coffee. Run by a great team of volunteers, well done ladies & 1 gent I think. Mug of tea was a bit steep at £2.50 (from memory) but nice all the same. Great toilets too.
Wonderful place to visit. We always go to the Dalesin the winter. So different with no leaves on. You can see soooo much more!
