Attractive Grade 1 listed church built circa 1250. The tower was rebuilt in the Georgian era and there are two surviving Norman windows. There are some interesting masonry details and some lovely stained glass windows. There are some impressive tombs in the surrounding graveyard, including the oldest one, being a table tomb. There is also an old sundial close to the porch. To the side of the church is the memorial garden which houses the Peace Pole. There is a path up through the graveyard which leads you up to the pond at the top of the hill. Good views of Kirkbymoorside from here.
The church is closed. Supposedly there was an arson attack.😢
It is a friendly place where people come together to worship in a very beautiful old traditional place of worship that has good church music and a good choir. And afterwards enjoy friendship over a cup of coffee.
